Yikes, that's a big one!
Just heard about this newborn, who weighs 13 pounds, 12 ounces. I would say "ouch", but she was delivered Caesarean. And, she was born 3 weeks early! Her parents are calling her "The Big Enchilada", and they have two other kids, one of which weighed 11 lbs 8 oz at birth. The other one weighed over 10 lbs.

When I was working newborns, we once had a 16 lb newborn - the mother and father both were something like 6'4'' though. And she managed to push that baby out (with the help of forceps, which is why the kid ended up in our ped. hospital - some quite nasty bruises!) Anyways, next to all the three-to-four-pounders that were our most common 'customers', the kid looked HUGE!
