Getting dressed and sleeping
I'm getting email wondering where I am, so just a quick post:
Cary and I are doing well, starting to feel a little more normal. Clothes have been interesting. I still wear some maternity clothes, since none of my regular clothes are even close to fitting. I bought a pair of jeans two weeks ago, but they are now too big. That's a positive, I know, but I'm still left with nothing fitting. And who wants to spend a bunch of money on clothes that I'll only wear for a couple months? Not me. But I've got to wear something.
A friend told me today that I look a lot better than I did last week.
Hmmm. What did I look like last week?
Oh, you looked fine, just tired, I guess.
Well, that makes sense, as Cary is now sleeping a lot more at night. Last night she slept (mostly, with one or two short crys which stopped before I got there to pick her up) from 11:30 until 4am. That was significant. She ate at 4, then went back to sleep until almost 8!
Boy, were we ready for her to go to sleep at 11:30, though. She had been crying off and on since about 8:00. We kept thinking she was asleep...then we'd relax, almost doze off...Waaaaa! Dang!
We've been trying different sleeping arrangements for her. Mostly, she sleeps in a bassinet by our bed. That is okay, but she can be a noisy sleeper, grunting, squealing, etc.
She's asleep, but I wake up every time she makes a sound. Sometimes I end up sleeping with her in the bed, since she nurses to sleep, and so do I. That's okay, but we both wake up sweaty, and I have to peel her face off my arm.
She always relaxes when she's on her changing table, so we tried putting the changing pad in her crib, and putting her to sleep that way. Maybe it was middle-of-the-night-sleep-deprived deleriosity, but...Success!! Who knows what we'll be doing next week. I still have a hard time with her being in another room, I feel too separated from her. But sleeping is good, so...
Okay, said it was going to be a quick post, and it's long. I'll try to post more often. Kinda busy, though.
