Hiccups
Cary has always gotten hiccups. I think it started when I was 8 months pregnant or so (I'm sure there's a post about it...), and it hasn't stopped. She gets them at least a couple times a day.
Tonight, though, I had them. I was feeding her, getting her ready to go to sleep, and I started hiccuping. I would hiccup, and she would stop nursing and give me this shocked look. "What the heck was that, mom?"
I kept trying to hold my breath, my tried and true way of ridding myself of hiccups, but to no avail.
Every time I hiccuped, she stopped nursing and looked at me questioningly. I could not stop laughing. I could not stop hiccuping. She could not concentrate on nursing. None of this was helping her go to sleep. I finally just laid her down in her crib, figuring she would do better without my help.
Sure enough, asleep in 5 minutes.
